I got this book in preparation for the Texes Teachers Exam and for the price was highly suprised that there were a lot of typos and mistakes in it. That said there is a lot of good material in it and suggestions of what to study and I did pass the exam on the first try. I think they could make an improvement on there practice tests though and not have the answers to the questions right below the answer choices. Altogether it was ok but definitely could have been lower priced for all the mistakes and typos.

This book really assisted me in passing the exam. If you studied this book thoroughly you are sure to pass the exam on the first try. However, though they updated the book from previous years, it is shame that it contained so many typos. I wonder how could an editor published it. Another thing that i did not really like is the answer located right beneath the question, it did not allow me to test my skills. However, I really liked the explanation after the answers.

If you want to pass the Special Ed Content area this is a must buy.

This study guide, along with the free study guide from the state website, were the primary resources I studied for the TExES Special Ed. Exam. I started studying about a week and a half before the test and passed on the first try with a 270/300.

  4. This book wasn’t very helpful as a review for this exam. There were LOTS of typographical errors in the book. Also lots of repetious information. I was taking the exam without taking the course work, but I have 30 years experience teaching. The book wasn’t that much help. I’d say it wasn’t worth the $60 I spent on it.

  5. Okay…for starters we all know we need some form of preparation materials to study for the TExES exam Special Education EC-12 (161). With that being said, this book is by no means the best readable and understandable book, BUT if you read it through front to back once, you will pass your exam. Yes, it has several typos and yes its lay out is poor. There are several other complaints that one can find in this book, but if you are in need of study material, this book will do the trick. There are practice tests in the back and the book repeats a lot of the information throughout, creating a concrete understanding as you progress through it. I would recommend that one read this book front to back taking occasional notes and study the TExES Special Ed practice test on the website. If you are able to use common sense and read these materials to become more knowledgeable over Special Ed, you’ll do fine!
